The zoo is located in Bridgeland, Calgary , Alberta, Canada, east of the city’s downtown. On St. George’s Island in the bow River is a large portion of the zoo. The Calgary Zoo was established in 1929. It is daily open except for Christmas Days.
There are 54 animals, 23 birds, 11 reptiles, 10 plants, and 10 dinosaurs. I am going to name 10 animals from the zoo, African lion, Swift fox, African wild dog, Indian fruit bat, Grey wolf, White tailed deer, Cougar, Canadian lynx, Red panda, Grizzly bear, and a Canadian porcupine.
On November 17th 2004 an Asian elephant was born in the zoo. The elephant was rejected by her mother and died in 3 weeks of her birth because of an overwhelming infection. She was given the name. Keeyama after her death.
A giraffe named Richard was born on November 2007, and a new Siberian tiger named Vitali was also born. Another Asian elephant, Malti was born in August 2007, he had a serious and invariably fatal virus, and died on November 2008.
I thought this topic was important for me because it is the second largest zoo in Canada and when I live at Calgary for 1 year I visited the zoo 5 times and I loved it so decided to learn about it. Thank you for listening my speech!

The Calgary Zoo is the second largest zoo in Canada. Zoos help teach us about animals that we would never see on our own. It helps us respect them and understand that we need to protect their habitats.
Now What??
More animals are becoming extinct all the time. In the future, zoos may be the only place we can continue to see and treasure some of the amazing wildlife
